Just a word?:)

February 8, 2009

Love …just a word?:)
If it is,then it must be the only word in the world to have inspired so many emotions across so many countries…cultures..languages….

Writers have tried describing it…
Poets have pined for it endlessly…
Singers have crooned words we understood but didn’t know how to express…
Lovers sigh over it…
Young hearts dream of it…
Some hearts look back with fondness and nostalgia…
Some hearts carry it still…ever new and ever young…

But because I am no poetic soul,I will simply share the words of those who are…:)

And each day we will discover a few more things…more ways to celebrate..more ways to live life…
We will search for new definitions and find some old ones…
Of how love is an eternal emotion…intangible and ever elusive….
It would be madness to confine it to any one definition or any one relatonship…

(Mahadevi Verma)

The first line says it all doesn’t it?:)

Take a look at what Faiz says….

ek din kah liijiye jo kuchh hai dil mein aapake
ek din sun liijiye jo kuchh hamaare dil mein hai

-Josh Malihabadi

lamhaat-e-yaad-e-yaar ko sarf-e-duaa na kar
aate hai.n zindagii me.n ye aalam kabhii kabhii

-Shakeel Badayuni

Bashir Badr

”It lies not in our power to love or hate,
For will in us is overruled by fate.
When two are stripped, long ere the course begin,
We wish that one should love, the other win;
And one especially do we affect
Of two gold ingots, like in each respect:
The reason no man knows; let it suffice
What we behold is censured by our eyes.
Where both deliberate, the love is slight:
Who ever loved, that loved not at first sight?

– Christopher Marlowe (1564 – 1593)

”Come live with me and be my love
And we will some new pleasures prove
Of golden sands and crystal brooks,
With silken lines and silver hooks
. ”
-John Donne

I lost a World – the other day!
Has Anybody found?
You’ll know it by the Row of Stars
Around its forehead bound.

A Rich man—might not notice it—
Yet—to my frugal Eye,
Of more Esteem than Ducats—
Oh find it—Sir—for me!

-Emily Dickinson
