Back! :D

April 28, 2009

Moi here ๐Ÿ™‚ tired and exhausted and a bit earlier than expected but here ๐Ÿ˜€
A question:-Which brainy dude or dudette came up with the idea of arranging weddings in the Summers sorry ….Indian Summers.
Makes me want to do some bodily harm to someone.
Do you know Luckhnow Summer makes the Delhi one look like a walk in a green shady cool park? Well….I know now ๐Ÿ˜€

The Banaras one is a bit better in comparison.

Have missed you guys so much ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
And the interactions even more ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
And the sheer amount of posts waiting to be read! My GAWD! Dont you guys ever take a blogging break? Or take it easy? ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜›

Or atleast take some pity on this poor soul who has to wade through all those posts? ๐Ÿ˜€

Opened my mailbox a couple of days back when I was here on a stopover and what do I find? Solilo’s post on forever friends..
Life is made of moments like these….

Made my eyes tear up. And like I asked Solilo ,” Do you know how it feels to know that one is missed so much? That one is blessed to have a friend who seems to have known you forever? As if maybe , just maybe , you had bumped into each other at that busy market last week or last year or maybe when we were kids?

And like Solilo wrote,”ย It seems we have known each other for years; jumped in the mud puddles together, played with the same toys, shared giggles about same boys while tying each otherโ€™s pigtails.”

I know just what you mean Solilo….I do….Coz the connection is so darn eerie…isnt it?

Your post overwhelmed me and made me feel blessed…ย

I am blessed to have found you here ๐Ÿ™‚

It happens so very rarely ..friendships like these that I know we areย one of the lucky few ๐Ÿ™‚

ย It delighted with its comment box too :D…The feeling’s incomparable…I am touched beyond words..

Thank you for all the words that so many friends shared too on your post…

Will be back to comment on that postย ๐Ÿ™‚

Which also reminds me ….just how many of you thought I was Solilo’s other half? ๐Ÿ˜€ or that she was mine? ๐Ÿ˜€

Tooย desperate to make Dostana Two eh? ๐Ÿ˜†

And for some smartie commentors on that post… ๐Ÿ˜€

Run!!I am here ! ๐Ÿ˜€ *evil laugh*

But seriously thank you to all my friends who have shared on Solilo’s post…thank you…its a whole range of feelings which would require a separate post..ย  ๐Ÿ˜€

*people dropping like flies at the mention of some err…long posts * ๐Ÿ˜†

ย Have inserted the whole gallery coz the pics were too cumbersome to upload ๐Ÿ˜€
The pictures are of an ancestral haveli near Varanasi…..the temple is one of the many that dot this village….every newly wed couple has to go to the ancestral village to seek the blessings of the various gods and goddesses…

The famous Markandey Temple is situated in this village too ๐Ÿ™‚
the pictures of the river are of the river Ganga…where the couple is rowed by boat to the middle where they perform a puja to seek the blessings of the river Goddess…

The pictures where you can see the river through the trees…has been taken from the terrace of the haveli..Ganga is visible from the house…

The little fourlegged creature in one of the pics is my cousin’s darling and reminded me of my own fourlegged baby back here in Delhi…

Everything was fine except for the road journey of two hours from Benaras to the village…the journey is too long…

Here are the pics…

I know I also have to get around to reading all your posts not to mention answer the comments on mine ๐Ÿ™‚ *sigh* But I am happy…with some rest I will be back to doing some serious blog hopping ๐Ÿ˜€

OGย  ..The updatessu ๐Ÿ˜€

Hey! WoW! First hitchwriter (yesterday) and now you. Blogworld is over the moon. I can’t say I missed you, as I have only started reading your blog from last week. I love your work.

Now going back to this post. I love the pictures. Especially of the river Ganges. And you’re complaining about weddings in the heat (indian summer) and 2 hrs journeys. You try making a 11yrs old to do a 7 day journey starting from Gujrat going through Rajasthan going up north all the way to the foothills of the himalayers (Haridwar, Rishikesh, Maisoori) and back again in the indian summer and on her first trip to india. :-s

me:-thanks Badz:) loved your earlier comments too ๐Ÿ™‚ have to get down to replying to them too:)
OMG!!you went on such a trip? How did you manage to do it?
why was the trip necessary?amazing is all I can say…look forward to seeing more of you:) and will visit you too:)

    • Badz permalink
      April 28, 2009 8:19 pm

It wasn’t necessary BUT mum and dad insisted. Dad returned back to india after 13 years and mum after 20 years so my parents insisted on going. Plus my brother is disable (and the last boy/child for this generation of the family) so my parents insisted on taking him to temples and getting the gods/goddesses blessing etc. Also my nanny (mum’s mum) insisted to my dad to take my mum. I’m getting a little carried away. Anyway, its nice visiting the places BUT its tiring at the same time due to all the travelling.

And I guess you’ll learn most NRIs (definetly the whole of my family meaning my mum’s side) come to India with a tight schedule and want to go to as many places as possible. My parents are so bad not. just the first trip. Although we come India usually come pretty much every year now. ๐Ÿ˜€

      me-oh that way ๐Ÿ˜€
yeah understand ..have some cousins and their families who do the same every year too ๐Ÿ˜€

yes religious places are a must visit for my cousin’s family too ๐Ÿ™‚

badz you dont have a blog yet right?do let me know when you do ๐Ÿ™‚

        Yes. No blog yet.

And I think NRI parents don’t understand most kids hate visiting temples all the time and the non stop travelling. I use to hate it too. BUT now I look at it as an educational experience. Meaning I’m learning about different cultures, the history behind it, the architecture and my own religion.

Going on the himalayas for the Char Dham Yatra taught me all of this and to look at thing from a different perspective. And I felt proud of myself for learning to speak Hindi in a period of 3 weeks. And funnily enough I speak fluently and impress call Indians. ๐Ÿ˜†

me-why no blog?do start one ๐Ÿ™‚ would love to read your thoughts ๐Ÿ™‚

the way you have started looking at all the travelling is the best way to go about it:)
the history is just awesome ๐Ÿ™‚
        wow!Hindi in three weeks? ๐Ÿ˜€
        do start your blog ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. April 28, 2009 6:22 pm

Indeah, I had been thinking of clicking your name in the comments columns of other bloggers. Somehow postponed. I seem to be sitting here for longer hours in front of my PC! Missed all the fun.

After reading Solilo’s ‘friends’ post, I couldn’t wait any longer. Both of you are really made for each other – very rarely friendship like this one happens, you know.

The photographs of the Lukhnow haveli and the Ganga are beautiful and your foot and wear too! So your people still live in the ancestral homes. Nowadays, the next generations become engineers (almost in every household) and join firms in the cities. So the older people join them in the city houses. The Homes are sold or left just like that. It has happened in our families. Nice to know that your home is still there, in tact.

Well….this seems to be a longer comment for my first visit. Nice to know you, Indeah. Be happy always!

    me:-welcome here Sandhya:)
long comments are welcome at this blog ๐Ÿ˜€
Solilo’s friendship..:) yes Touchwood and thanks:)
    I do feel lucky ๐Ÿ™‚

thank you for the words about the phtographs ๐Ÿ™‚

my foot lol!:D yeah a quirk of mine clicking such inane pics ๐Ÿ˜€

well nowadays usually there is just a caretaker or two at the ancestral homes and people love to visit in the vacations…

I know what you are trying to say..I have seen the changes happen too….but having a home …roots to go back to is so special na? :)though I know that maybe the next generation or the one after may not be as sentimentallly attached to the ancestral homes as we are…

    keep coming Sandhya:)

Banaras is so dirty, so crowded, so smoky …. yet so sweet, so enchanting, so mystical, so very Banaras !
I have travelled through practically the whole city on foot, and with a friend, all the ghats in one frustrated evening after an IIT JEE debacle. I love the city and always feel drawn by its charm yet unexplained.

    me-I agree ๐Ÿ™‚
Banaras is one of the oldest cities in India and maybe the world and hence quite a congested one..modern infrastructure is missing ina lot of parts…I agree It has a charm thats unique ๐Ÿ™‚
